Technology Research Center,
Kanyakumari
An institutional project, it is a technological research centre for the Natural Resources Development Project (NARDEP), a part of the Vivekananda Kendra in Kanyakumari. The buildings of this research centre foster education and have been built using alternate technologies for construction such as brick rat-trap bond, stabilized earth blocks and filler slabs along with many precasted ferrocemented elements like shutters, windows, doors, and weather sheds.

Using local material, and with the help of local artisans, these buildings also sport recycled material in their construction. The institute has buildings for educational purpose such as training halls, computer centre, classrooms. For residential purposes there is another facility for resource people and stakeholders.

Other elements include a multipurpose hall, a reception centre, and a dining facility. The construction is built with a keen interest in local material for local purposes with a thorough understanding of the local climate and communities.
